Lord knows if I am actually onto something, but my first efforts to derail the Killer Cat have had some apparent success. Photos taken at ground level seem to show nothing amiss, except plenty of squirrels. This Carolina Wren seemed happy and secure. And the cat's attack corridor remained plugged up by end of day. So what did I do? We have a nasty bush at the end of the drive that possesses particularly sharp thorns all over everything. Trimming this bush is an unhappy labor... well, until now. I pruned a few of the longer shoots and stuffed them in the "attack hole" and on the bed where the cat appeared to lay in wait. I figure the thorns will argue with any aggressive cat and just maybe inspire them to take their business elsewhere. Let's put off using noxious chemicals and such to a last resort. So far so good...

Great idea about the prickly prunings! I have just the plant for that! One year I contracted a booby trap for the cats that didn't harm them but slowed them down enough for the birds to get away! Putting out the spiky pruning will be much easier!
Good thinking with the thorns. I hope your plan works and the cat won't be back!
