No sooner had I managed to deal with predatory cats then my buddy the Cooper's Hawk returned for a look around the yard. I hear one or more birds fairly regularly: they are dumb enough to advertise themselves with loud calls(!). But I don't see them nearly as often as they're heard. Of course, as seen here, they blend in pretty well and are harder to see than usual. This particular individual caught my attention by perching directly on the feeder tree--not the best place to capture a blissfully unaware prey item. Happily, the local passerines have plenty of cover all over the neighborhood so this hawk has its work cut out bagging a meal. As usual, I'll monitor the situation and see if there are problems.
