Fickle Finches

The old wallet got a rest the past two days: seed consumption dropped sharply. I don't know the why, but I do know the who, and that would be House Finches. These gluttons are remarkably fickle at times... they can gorge their way through a summer when other birds will eat what can naturally be found, and yet here in mid November when the temperatures are cooler and the wild choices less plentiful, they'll just go someplace else. Just like that. For once I am not worried about the absence. House Finches don't belong here and as said, eat more than their weight every day (it seems.) Alas, soon they will return. With friends. And more friends. Let's hope these fickle characters don't make that return too soon!
