Squirrel in feeder: fifth day.
Or so this photo suggests. But not seeing a visible head is certainly worrisome. Is this an optical illusion, or did this feeder fail spectacularly in its first week of operation? All I can do is watch and wait. It is absolutely certain now that the most wretched sciurus carolinensis will be attacking this feeder with vigor. They know what's in it. And just maybe they found a weakness. As for me, weeping and gnashing of teeth--as St. Matthew would report--will be my portion. Let's hope this photo is only a trick.

Try putting safflower seed in it. My squirrels hate it, and they get really angry. They quickly give up and it breaks the habit. Best of luck with this.
I'm starting to doubt that there is an actual "squirrel-proof" feeder in existence!
