Still Star of the Show

It's an interesting commentary on the drabness of winter when a Pine Warbler glows brightest in the feeder constellation. Jennifer pegged one of these guys as a goldfinch a couple of weeks ago--- and understandable comment given how usually they stand out in the crowd...in summer. But the goldfinches hit the plumage mute button and it is this one bird that gets to take the stage today. Just a little bit of yellow goes a long way! It also helps that the PWs are more interested in suet now (there being fewer flying insects) and make more appearances, becoming noticeably more visible. So when the skies are steel gray, and the trees a bland pastiche, the humble Pine Warbler is a star of the show. Shine on!
