When I was a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed mad scientist movies, especially where the demented genious had all kinds of crazy apparatus in his lab. Decades later, I'm starting to think it's rubbed off on me. In my case, the "lab" is a yard that's jam-packed with bird gear. And the more... the better. On this fine day in the southeast I cleaned off some old feeder, converted a platform to hanging, and put out some foods absent for much of the past year. The cafe again includes nyjer for the picky Goldfinches and peanut hearts for... well, whomever will eat them. I have a lot in the larder and a fire sale is needed. That means I now have 16 feeders in active use right now (and 10 in storage or disuse.) on three separate stations. Sure, it's crazy. And I zip around checking feeders through windows a little too often. Fun with feeders.... definitely mad scientist stuff.
