Suprising Cardinal Territories

The property has been a lively battleground for Northern Cardinals lately. With so many broods successful last summer, it was a lock that the hyperterritorial cardinals would clash when winter ended. Evidently more are being accomodated than I expected, as I see more than one pair in the choicest sections. My thinking is that territories are meeting at the primary feeder station, where I can see multiple feuding birds. But happily there are three stations here and I see "resident" pairs at each: not sure if they're different pairs. If this alignment of cardinal interests holds up (in spite of regular dustups), then I am delighted. There are never too many cardinals for me. And believe me, I feed all of them well.
