A Good Year For Robins

Given the antics around here, I'm tempted to pronounce the American Robin as my current favorite bird. We're more than making up for the relative dearth of robins in 2010, and it seems they are simply everywhere in great numbers. I'm appreciative of their entertaining hunt for edibles all over the property, so much so I am going out of my way to disturb soil and water a little extra here and there to make finding invertebrates even easier. Of course this is utterly unnecessary: robins are doing fine all by themselves. Just watching them confirms this. But what the heck. They're here, they're delightful, it is a good year for robins. I'm sure they won't mind the extra effort on my part to make their year a good one as well.
