Higher Hangout

We observed earlier this month that Junior Robin (or at least one of them: we had two) had developed the longtime habit of young Robins, which would be hanging about the bird bath. For some time this bird clung tenaciously to the ground bath. But it seems it has graduated to higher turf. I now see it perched from time to time on the pedestal bath, keeping close to the regularly bathing parents. Junior has not bathed itself, I think, for there are no photos betraying any such behavior. But that will come. The passage to adulthood is nigh. Junior is taking on much of the adult plumage and perhaps by August we won't recognize any difference. For now: a perch at the bath, and some parental training: at thigh height!
