The Summer Stranger

One of the few species I welcome to bird feeders that is nearly invisible in summer is the Pine Warbler. This character spends its hot months working the nearby pines for insects, eschewing suet so much that I rarely see even a BirdCam photo of one. This poor quality image is the first I've gotten in months. Frankly, I hand it to the Pine Warblers as they stick to the canopy. They're evolved to pursue nature's own bounty. And I, as Joe Homeowner appreciate their work keeping the bugs under control. But the cold months are coming, and I wouldn't mind seeing my colorful buddies back at the suet feeders. Welcome back, stranger!
