Earlier this week we had a surprise visit! BirdCam photography I only just looked at tonight shows that this female Summer Tanager, hardly a feeder bird, dropped by early afternoon on the 12th. I had an identical visit two years ago now--a short visit on only one day, although it would be difficult to presume it is the same bird. I never hear them in the neighborhood as it is simply not woody enough for a tanager here, so perhaps this one is beginning her migration to the tropics and saw a chance to get a quick bite along the way. Who knows? but what a wonderful, colorful moment!
