We have enjoyed such success with the peanut pieces this past summer--a development I hadn't expected-- that it is high time to rethink another concept. My pattern has been to run out peanut butter only in the cold months. Historically interest tapered off rather quickly in the spring. And, after all, heat melts the stuff off the feeders. But the temperatures have moderated and just perhaps little peanut lovers like this Brown Headed Nuthatch might accept the more viscous version sooner. It may be worth a try. I wouldn't mind having that feeder up earlier just so the birds imprint on it by the time of the first freeze. So if time allows this weekend, peanut butter will rejoin the menu!
