I think I've mentioned the profusion of Aspects weather domes over the feeders here. It's made the place look like some kind of Jupiter-2-alien-city, but it has generally keep seed dry. We fancy that the birds also cotton to the idea of staying out of the weather as much as we do. But do they, really? My sense is that they couldn't care less. Most birds I know have a fair amount of waterproofing oil on those outer feathers, and feathers themselves are designed to trap air. Hence they are warm, flying raincoats. It is probably the case they are sensible enough to avoid heavy rain but for other reasons. So buy the domes, if you care to do so, to keep feeders dry. Odds are the birds don't even notice.
