A Fixture at Our Suet Feeder

We have been seeing a great deal of one particular bird this autumn.  And that would be this female Northern Flicker (yellow shafted).  I'm racking up many photos as she works the suet feeder, and she visits at least a few times a day, dependably daily.  I can't say I have seen a male flicker in some time, but the territory of any nesting pair from this year would plausibly have a territory considerably larger than our property.  One figure I've seen is about forty acres per pair, and that would easily envelop our cul de sac and the two adjacent to it.  So a male could be nearby, but otherwise engaged in whatever food source he's glommed onto.  This female seems to enjoy hot pepper suet a great deal, and is sure to be a winter constant for us.  That's all well for me!  This is a great bird to enjoy in the bleak midwinter, as the carol might go.
