Stomachs With Wings
It's always a special time when the American Goldfinches come for an extended visit. Was that sarcasm? Well, yes, mostly. These dear little gluttons are doing a number on the sunflower seed supply and are packing away something like two pounds of seed a day, if my calculations are correct. These are certainly attractive birds, in terms of plumage. But my heavens do they eat! At least they don't tend to hang around year-round. That would bankrupt us (just kidding) However, we do try to treat all comers as valuable guests and I will refrain from scolding them too much. They're goldfinches, after all. Truly stomachs with wings!
