Fall Signs Are Everywhere

Fall is definitely here, in more ways than one.  It's not only that the days are shorter and that the summer birds are gone and that it's cooler.  But we also see a significant decline in food consumption at this time of year.  One of the safflower seed feeders has been mostly full for over a week, suet is moving at a glacial pace, and even the oft-hit sunflower seed feeders (hit by finches!) are draining on the order of days, not hours.  This is the time of year when family groups have broken up, and we're between seasons, so it is perfectly natural.  I expect things to change in a big way in November when natural foods are a little harder to find and there's more chill in the air.  Now; nice and quiet!
