Looking for The Rufous Hummingbird
Is third time the charm? For another winter I am leaving out at least another nectar feeder in hopes of attracting a roving Rufous Hummingbird. This species has been found in our county during winter months for some years---even in this city. Ornithologists are urging people to keep out feeders and, if the birds arrive, giving them a heads-up for the collection of data. I've bombed in this effort for the last two seasons, and don't really think I'll score this time, but it never hurts to try. I am planning to get a camera up as well for all those times I don't watch. Hopefully---three times is the charm!
