Another Last Wave Juvenile
A few days ago I pointed at some last wave youngsters, that is, birds born in the last nest cycle of 2013. Among these was a new Eastern Bluebird. I have spotted another: a young Northern Mockingbird. You can see how the plumage isn't quite right, especially on the head. It's a raggedly look we see regularly among juvenile Red Bellied Woodpeckers, for example. This character will do quite well. In a few days the suet-hogging Catbirds will be gone permitting a little more gorging on that high energy food. Although Bird Cam suggests it already knows its way around!
