Last winter we were overrun by a growing pack of Red Winged Blackbirds. I think at one point I counted 90 or more birds at one time. They eventually cleared out by springtime, which was predicted. Unfortunately things at the nearby pond may be getting rough and I am seeing RWBs again. The really bad news is that we are farther along on the Blackbird Fibonacci series: my second count was twelve birds! This sign of the Apocalypse has prompted me to make some feeder enhancements and replacements that exclude large birds from my north side feeders. I do not need to encourage these louts and will cage everything if I have to. We shall see what happens!
