Predation, Again
In recent weeks I've observed the unfortunate signs of predation: loose piles of feathers. It's the unmistakeable signs of a hawk, and probably a Cooper's which has made off with songbirds here before. Based on the feathers I suspect either titmice or juncos are the prime victims. This certainly goes on, and it's not pleasant to see, and the species populations recover. I hope there really is enough cover and that these feeders aren't an unnecessary risk for the guests. We can overlook hawks but I sure don't want to make it too easy for them!
