Hello, Stranger

One of the birds I managed to miss during the Great Backyard Bird Count, unless it didn't visit at all, was our friend the Pine Warbler.  I lean to the latter explanation.  Pine Warblers have been observed to disappear periodically -- from the feeders, at least.  But by and large they are year-rounders.  I can't imagine why they lose their taste for suet every so often.  Then again, even I am known to turn my nose up at a hamburger every now and then so perhaps the PW is being as discriminatory.  And insects are easy enough to find in these parts even in high winter, which this is assuredly not.  I'm pleased to see them back in action and hope, this time, they stick around.
