Busy Woodpecker Parents

Over the weekend I have been watching some very busy parents and equally hungry juveniles. Young Red Bellied Woodpeckers and young downy woodpeckers have been following their parents to both of our feeder stations in hopes of food. The Downy mother I watched was patiently obliging to her pesky son, but I wasn't sure of the more aloof Red Bellied dad, as he took his delivery of suet into the trees. There should be ample food for all, as I have had four suet cakes out at any given time -- and they are being worked hard! It is fun to see the young ones being introduced to the Cary BirdCam Cafe. We'll see who else comes by in coming days. Young bluebirds? chickadees? cardinals?
