One of my most important BirdCam accessories is a logbook, which I keep in an Excel spreadsheet. I have recorded all manner of information since I began using the product in 2007: for example; which birds were photographed, how many photos were taken, weather conditions, times of first and last photos in the day, and more. Over time, I have accumulated valuable data that can guide improvements in results. I can predict which birds will respond to what foods at what times of year. I can better anticipate migratory patterns. I can plan on changes in the sun’s position, and length of daylight. And more. And, best of all, I can use the logbook to remember special days and moments, and easily refer back to the photographs taken on those days. I recommend that all BirdCammers keep a logbook of their own.
