You can't go too wrong by consulting with your nearest Northern Mockingbird (apologies to readers in the upper Midwest, Canada and the Pacific northwest who can’t enjoy these birds locally). Provided you have a good handle on various birdsongs, the Mockingbird is a wonderful resource. Its repertoire of songs will include all the local species the Mocker has had enough time to listen to. I enjoy taking neighborhood walks and listening for the roll call. Just maybe, I’ll hear something new!
