BirdCam Reveals Woodpecker Mechanics

I have noted in earlier posts that the Wingscapes BirdCam makes it possible for the amateur ornithologist to closely study birds. There is no better subject of such study than our backyard woodpeckers. These birds are amazing creatures, perfectly designed for their niche. Think about it: we here have compact, mobile jackhammers. Their tails provide sturdy bracing. Their bills are tough. Their skulls absorb shock. With the BirdCam we students can take still photos and videos that reveal these details and show how these marvelous machines work. Don't take your woodpeckers for granted! It's a guarantee that your research will significantly increase your appreciation for these and other backyard birds.
