I was quite pleased to see this photograph of an Eastern Bluebird in Thanksgiving Day's run. My residents took a little break from visiting the suet feeders---I hadn't seen one since late August. That they came by suggests that the insect pickings might be getting a little thinner, but more importantly for me is that they know perfectly well where a quick pick-me-up can be had while they do hunt for what is out there. There are still a few other species that I haven't seen come back, the most noticeable being the Yellow Rumped Warblers, Red Breasted Nuthatches, and Ruby Crowned Kinglets. It is high time. Is the weather not cold enough? At least I have the Bluebirds back!
