The Juncos Are Back!

I came home from work yesterday in a blue mood. But that changed in a split second once I took in what was going on at the feeders. And the blue funk was forgotten when I spotted the Slate Colored Junco. They may be harbingers of winter (being, after all, the original "snow birds") but in my mind they have a bubbly, happy quality. It is hard to be in a bad mood when watching Juncos hopping about in search for seeds. This particular Junco was busy combing through the hulls and seeds dropped from tube feeders overhead. No doubt the word will get out quickly among the Junco community that the ground pickings are none too bad at Cary Bird Cam. Yes indeed, it will be a fine winter here. The Juncos are back!
