Mockers are Back From Break

The peanut butter feeder has been noticed, and it was enough to bring Northern Mockingbirds out of the woods. I haven't seen a mocker since mid August, which is normal enough. What is also normal enough is their taste for peanut butter. These characters were among a group of species that found this foodstuff irresistable. The others include the Eastern Bluebirds (seen), Yellow Rumped Warblers (where are they???), Pine Warblers, Chickadees, and the nuthatches. While we see the Mockingbirds all winter I usually think of them as a springtime species, probably because there seem to be more of them and that they get somewhat more aggressive. For now they are causing no problems, and I am delighted to see them around.
