On return from a community event I happened to notice a huge flock of Common Grackles descending upon the trees and gardens of our Town Hall campus. There must have been in excess of 500 birds and I am certain they could have done significant damage to any bird feeding stations they came across. I can only thank my lucky stars I have not been the target of a Grackle mob like this one. Surely someone around these parts has had this problem to deal with. I am thinking this is as close to a locust swarm as we are going to get in this leafy suburb. I can only imagine what I would have to do in response. Shut down the feeders for a couple of weeks? We'll have to cross that bridge when and if we come to it.

I'm Glad I Don't Have This Problem
