It will not be long before our summer jewels, Ruby Throated Hummingbirds, appear. The first wave of migrants has already passed Cary and a visit by one or more is always a possibility here. But more realistically my residents won't get here until well into April. Nonetheless I am prepared. My four hummer feeders are out of storage and ready for service (and as always, each is invisible to all the others.) I replaced my oldest, the "Apple" which was impossible to clean well, with a suspended dish product. That model has been very successful and I am up to three of them. I'm very pleased with how well they are to clean, and they don't require special ant traps. I can't wait to receive my summer house guests!
