Nuthatches Have Nest Success

Over the weekend I heard the distinct call of nestlings coming from the White Breasted Nuthatch box. And throughout the observation period there were what looked like shift changes by the parents, presumably hunting for food for the ravenous inmates. All signs point to a successful hatching. You can see in the photo a bird sitting in the nest box hole. Is it waiting for a shift change? or just keeping an eye on things? I can't wait for the fledglings to emerge and hopefully dine at the BirdCam Cafe. We are ready with plenty of seed and suet for whatever tastes. It's too bad that no other nests are underway here, but we take what we get and learn what works for future reference. As for now, we celebrate!
