The perennials (21): American Goldfinch, American Robin, Brown Headed Nuthatch, Brown Thrasher, Carolina Chickadee, Carolina Wren, Chipping Sparrow, Common Flicker, Common Grackle, Downy Woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird, Eastern Towhee, House Finch, Mourning Dove, Northern Cardinal, Northern Mockingbird, Pine Warbler, Red Bellied Woodpecker, Red Winged Blackbird, Tufted Titmouse, and White Breasted Nuthatch. Missing: Blue Jay, Brown Headed Cowbird, and Hairy Woodpecker all visited in past. The lack of the Hairy mystifies me.
The winter set (5), Hermit Thrush, Ruby Crowned Kinglet, Slate Colored Junco, White Throated Sparrow, and Yellow Rumped Warbler. Missing: Irruptives of 2008 and 2009 including Red Breasted Nuthatch and Pine Siskin. We still have November and December to perhaps catch these uncommon visitors, assuming things get sufficiently ugly up north.
The summer set (1), Gray Catbird. Missing: Ruby Throated Hummingbird. I see them at flowers, just not at feeders. And we did see Summer Tanager last year... Odds are good that I'll photograph the hummers eventually, and I can never rule out other rare visitors.
Challenges? Other birds have been observed on the property, but capturing them on BirdCam is going to be a real task. Among these are American and Fish crows, Wood Thrush, and Chimney Swifts. Migrating transients such as the Rose Breasted Grosbeak are always a one in a million with me. But I have six more months to build my collection. Let's see what happens.
