Interesting Glimpses of the Watering Hole

The nation's birthday was not an especially torrid one in terms of temperature, but traffic was unusually high at the pedestal bird bath, and there were some surprises. For one, I've never seen an Eastern Towhee at the pedestal bath (they seem to like something lower to the ground), but here is a female giving herself a good wash. And she showed up in other, non consecutive photos. I've seen her scratching around the HVAC unit nearby, so just perhaps this water is in the heart of her territory, height or no. And was she after a cool bath or to rid herself of pests? I can't be sure. But I'll bet she enjoyed herself immensely whichever was the case. And I thoroughly enjoyed the photos!
