Robins Fledge: Powerwash Threat Passes

I'm happy to report that the American Robins I reported on Saturday have survived the threat of a powerwash on Monday. Two birds fledged. One did so Sunday, when I checked back and installed my signs asking for a reprieve of nest execution. The youngster flew off with little difficulty. Its sibling apparently took to wing the following day, as my friend Denise reported that all birds had flown the coop by Wednesday. This nest story had a happy ending, both for these particular Robins but also for me. You see, I so liked this nesting-under-the-deck concept that I worked out how to improve the curb appeal of my own deck by installing some "shelves" under the joists. It's shady and undisturbed territory and might just appeal to Robins or Wrens. Perhaps, next year, I'll have my own Robin fledglings to follow!
