Last Juvenile For 2010?

Last night I caught sight of an amazing spectacle for the middle of August: yet another baby bird begging for a meal. This time it's a Chipping Sparrow family. The birds were moving across the just-mown remnants of my lawn. Sigh, make that heat-baked lawn. The bottom, darker, bird followed the adult (top center), begged, and was immediately fed. This juvenile is still very young, and it suggests that he or she is the product of a second or even third nest attempt. Late it may be but there's plenty of food and the youngster should have plenty of time to grow strong before the weather gets challenging. It has definitely been a banner year for fledglings here! I have never seen so many different juveniles in one season. What a treat...
