Such sadness! Sometime this past week, most likely Monday night, my visiting Ruby Throated Hummingbirds took their leave of my humble home. I saw them over the weekend, but haven't found any trace since, even on BirdCam on different nectar feeders. It seems like such a painfully short season for these winged jewels. I spotted our first resident on May 19, which was only 112 days ago---a mere sixteen weeks! I may see some migrants in days ahead so I'll keep the feeders up, but the magic is truly over. So on, my friends, to the tropics! I will look forward to seeing you again next year.

Goodbye, Hummers
