I can easily understand why early biologists came up with the idea of spontaneous generation, at least when I see Canada Geese. They seem to become more numerous with no obvious causes. A small family group at our office (six birds total) a few months later has more than a dozen, if that's all of them. The office park pond is nearly overrun with these beasts. Did they just emerge from the muck? Of course, more showed up. The goose is among the most social of creatures and rarely disdain even absurdly large gatherings. For an office park, methinks ten is absurdly large. Well, we dodge their leavings and pray they move along. Soon. Before more spontaneously...generate.
