Another One In

It did not take long for our friend the Northern Mockingbird to figure out how to penetrate the peanut butter feeder! And I am not surprised. Last winter these agile birds simply craned forward and reached the goodies inside. This photo definitely suggests that the bird accomplished its goal: a light brown bit is seen on the bill. From everything I've seen through the years, Mockingbirds have little difficulty making themselves at home in these environments. And they occasionally go too far: dominating feeder stations and chasing off other birds even of other species. I'm hoping this little success on one feeder does not parlay itself into greater mischief. Congratulations! but I will be watching you...
