Today's "Wintry Mix" today (what a mess -- snow, ice, freezing rain, sleet...) really brought the birds out of the woods! In addition to the regulars, the feeders got visits by Brown Thrashers, Chipping and White Throated Sparrows, Eastern Towhees, and these guys---Yellow Rumped Warblers (which I am seeing for the first time this winter). They found the suet feeder and got right to business. The bird(s) I saw were females, drab apart from a distinctive gold spot on the head and the eponymous yellow spot on the rump. This photo shows both marks to good effect. So the gang is mostly here, I think, assuming the winter draw-out was not too unusual. And then...there were Warblers!
