The weather was a huge improvement this weekend, and that meant...bird improvements! The latest project was to put up two new nest boxes on posts. The Piedmont clay fought back as always (groan) but eventully I got my PVC piping in place and hoisted up the boxes. One fronts a temporary wetland and the other a bit of open space in our woody buffer. It will be interesting to see what species, if any, choose to use these boxes. The design is one that was very successful in 2010 so my optimism is at maximum! And that brings my crazy flotilla of nest boxes to 12. Good heavens! New Nest Boxes Are In Service
