Even More Popular

It has been a complete surprise this summer that peanuts have become the runaway hit food out there. As spring was closing in I was so disappointed in peanut consumption that I was ready to pull the feeder altogether. Since then, the bean has attracted a growing cast of visitors. The nuthatches, wrens, and tits are most obvious, but the Downy Woodpecker practically lives in the peanut feeder and now other woodpeckers are getting into the act. We saw a Red Bellied stretching its head into the "peanut fortress" today. All of these birds are willing to invest amazing amounts of energy banging away at peanuts for the merest scraps. Interested in trying shelled peanuts? I got mine at Wild Bird Unlimited. Good stuff!
