Hummingbirds Still Strong

Summer may be very hot, and the rain has utterly failed us, but the hummingbirds have not. These little jewels have carried on as they always have, becoming much more noticeable and interesting in the very hottest months. They seem to be ubiquitous at the nectar feeders, and I am trying to be careful to keep the nectar fresh and clean in appreciation for their visitations. And I know I have so little time left to enjoy them: around here the residents typically depart before the end of August, as if to presage the advent of the Cape Verde hurricane season. But I will not think of that right now! It is rightly time to appreciate the little things and the hummingbirds will do quite well in that role.
