Down to the Last Few Days of Hummers

The hummingbirds continue to be extremely active at our nectar feeders. The time is coming all too soon when these beautiful summer visitors pack their backs for the long trip south. I'm used to seeing this happen by the end of the first full week of September, hence we likely have the hummers for at most twelve more days--much too soon, I think. A male has been zipping around but it is the female who we see the most and I'm sure she's starting to bulk up for that harrowing migration. The nectar feeders will definitely stay up until I am sure there are no more patrons. May this be two weeks or more from now!
