Another September Drop-In

No sooner had I toted up the (premature) September count of species on BirdCam than the count becomes moot. Hello Northern (Yellow Shafted) Flicker! This female (notice she does not have the male "mustache") popped by in today's rain for some hot pepper suet and worked at the cake for some while. The flickers do come by, but rather irregularly especially outside the cold months. At this time of year they should have ample natural foods, so perhaps a change of pace for one day was called for. Who really knows? That brings us to 19 species with some hopes for a Hairy Woodpecker, Northern Mockingbird, or something else.
