What's going on? This is a question I have been asking every day this month. For I continue to see Ruby Throated Hummingbirds at my nectar feeders: I can confirm at least two females as recently as this afternoon. Usually my residents are long gone by the 24th of September. Are these, then, migrants? These birds have been seen almost every day for over a week. Seems odd that birds passing through would stay quite so long at one North Carolina zip code. I shall continue to oblige them: while I did remove one feeder two weeks ago, there are still three clean feeders going with fresh nectar. And I will definitely be watching carefully (and taking photos.) Will they stay into October? stay tuned!Saturday, September 24, 2011
Hummers Extending Stay
