A Little More Face Time

We've been enjoying more activity at the suet feeder---and other feeders---from our old friend the White Breasted Nuthatch. I didn't see a great deal of this species over the hot part of summer: they'd come by now and then. But in the past two weeks or so they're rather obvious. Suet is a primary attraction. They're also showing interest in peanuts (although not as enthusiastically as their cousins the Brown Headed Nuthatches) and even sunflower seeds. One is never sure exactly what motivates birds like this to start changing their dietary pattern. The insects are certainly still populous. Are they just interested in some variety? Whatever. I'm enjoying the visits!
