Looking Like a Big Bird

Day by day the youngsters of 2011 are growing up. They hatched. They fledged. And they learned to fend for themselves. And even the youngest of the young -- the third brooders -- are starting to look like adult birds. I can no longer tell the wrens apart, nor the House Finches, or even the cardinals. All have adopted their senior plumage. Who's left? One scruffy Red Bellied Woodpecker ("Peanuthead" I profiled earlier this week) and this last juvenile Eastern Bluebird, who I think was reared in the new bird box. We can definitively say it's a "he", but he isn't entirely outfitted yet. But soon enough, he'll be outfitted for the cold times to come and will be at last a big bird.
