Squirrel Update

For many months now, most of 2011 in fact, I have enjoyed amenable relationships with the most wretched sciurus carolinensis, the Eastern Gray Squirrel. The number of animals is low (I believe only two right now), the feeder attacks are barely noticeable, and the little SOBs are only operating in the very place I want them: cleaning up under the front yard pole feeders. They're welcome to that mess--cleans out spouting sunflowers! I am not sure if I benefit from good luck or good management: perhaps a decent measure of each. So dear friends, it can be done. The right combination of foods they don't want and distractions where they're useful has done wonders for me!
