Events up north tonight (an early snowfall) have gotten me thinking about a favorite winter topic, which is snowbirds, a.k.a. Slate Colored Juncos. And it is just about that time of year when we start to see these animated little characters in our yards. I am hopeful of a sighting within the week, although 2nd week of November should do the trick. We have several feeder stations with the usual seed fallings that should definitely attract juncos once they are in the area. Then it is months of delights! The clock starts ticking. Which will be first in the piedmont? Snow? (I hope not!) or snowbirds? Stay tuned.
