Winter Lineup: Northern Cardinal

I can't think of a finer representative of our winter lineup of regulars here for Christmas Day than the iconic Northern Cardinal.  This bird shows up on Christmas cards, ornaments, ... well, you name it.  They do stand out beautifully against the bleak winter backdrop.  And they're not bashful about visiting our feeders on such winter days.  Indeed, I can't imagine gazing outside on a Christmas Day and not seeing a Cardinal, or two, or three, perched on their favorite dogwood branch.  This may be an overhyped member of team winter, but gosh darn we do love them!  Today and every day...
